Review: Shock Absorber Active Classic Sports Bra N102

The Shock Absorber N102 Classic Sports Bra is one of four sports bras I’ll be reviewing for Fit & Active September series.

The Classic is a wireless, “level 3” support rated bra constructed in the encapsulation and compression style, designed for medium impact sports. The Classic is constructed of breathable fabrics and mesh to keep you dry and cool during your workout.

Band: The 38 band was too short. I would need  a 40 or 42. The Classic has a leotard back, and a tall band to prevent slippage.

Cups: The Classic’s cups were too small. I would need an FF or G in this style for a comfortable fit since my chest was completely squashed in the bra. The cups are comfortably designed, and in the pictures below you’ll notice the cups are lined to support and shape.

Pectoral Cut-In: I had quite a bit of cup cut in around my pectorals in the Classic. A larger cup/band would have helped reduce cut in; however, I think some of the cut-in is the Classic design, so this bra may be a tough fit for wide base breasts.

Straps: The Classic’s straps are gel padded, very comfortable, and half adjustable. I did completely tighten the straps to get my best lift, due to my high set breasts.

Conclusion: Overall, I really liked the Classic. It is very lightweight, the fabric is soft and comfortable, and felt supportive but not heavy…but unfortunately it was just way too small. I do think the Classic is a promising fit for short waists. Some high set ladies may struggle with the half-adjustable straps. The design may be problematic for wide base breasts; however, if sizing is correct cut-in may be eliminated. The Classic is available in two color ways – white and black, and is available in sizes 32-36 A  32-40 B/C  30-40 D/DD/E/F (U.K. sizing).

As an endnote, this was my second round at Shock Absorber. I tried an N109 D+ Max Support in March in a 36F (bra size I was wearing at the time), and I found it to be extremely small…which wouldn’t have daunted my pursuit for a good fit, except the fabric was very rough to the touch. Unfortunately, I disliked the fabric so much I chose not to to pursue another size.

What do you think about the Shock Absorber? Have you tried the Classic or D+?
