A New Dress and a SWIMSUIT!

Just a quick Saturday night update on my new big-bust and wide-shoulder friendly finds today.

While shopping for basketball shoes (don’t ask) at Sports Authority I ditched the men in my life to do a bit of shopping. I’ve had a theory that athletically styled tops may be good candidates for a wide-shouldered fit. And apparently, I was right!

Alpine Design Ruched Dress

I found this great, casual dress by Alpine Designs. The cap sleeves look great on my shoulders, and a scoop neck gives just a hint of cleavage. As a bonus, the bust has a build-in bralette that disguises bra cup seams – so you can wear a seamed bra for support. The sleeves completely hide my bra straps. The ruched side tie allows you to create as many gathers around your midsection as you like, or let it out for a smooth look. I fit easily into an XL, though going by the size chart it would be too small.

And hang on to your seats, because I found a wireless swimsuit that actually looks good on my figure.

Speedo Color Blocked Crossback

Yes, I will be swimming tomorrow! I am very impressed with this swimsuit from the Speedo Core Compression/Endurance line. Lots of support all over.  On the rack, I had  reservations about the deep neckline; however, it’s perfect. For a wireless cup, it gives amazingly good shape. The straps angle around to resemble a halter neck, perhaps that’s why I get decent support? The straps are a bit long, and I may have it altered to shorten the straps by about 1″ for better lift. I fit best in a 14 – which is surprising if you check the fit chart. I thought I’d need an 18 in Speedo – but a 16 was wrinkling around my midsection, too long, and large in the chest.

I tried on a few t’s while I was there. I noticed Under Armour and The North Face t’s both had sleeve widths wide enough for my body. UnderArmor XL deep v’s are a bit too deep for me, but I’ll definitely look for their tops in a taller neckline. Under Armour fit in the chest, shoulders, but was roomy in the waist and hip.  North Face fit my shoulders, waist, and hips and the scoop wasn’t too deep – but was a bit tight in the chest – I’d need a 2XL.

  1. This was a really good shopping! Congrats!

BTW I believe I had Speedo swimsuit once and if I’m right then you made a really good purchase, because mine lasted couple of years of regular swimming (it was my sport of choice in the university).
